Mel Losick (1940 – 2015) began his flooring career with training in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. After relocating to Virginia, he established Armelcarpet with his wife, Arlene.

As their business flourished, Mel’s reputation for excellence led him to install flooring for many major stores and companies. Soon thereafter, he added serging, custom rugs, and blinds to his repertoire. He then studied to become a master at carving artistic designs into rugs.

Mel was a man of integrity. He believed in doing things right the first time. His bottom line was not about making money, but creating product perfection and obtaining customer satisfaction.

Along with generating a reputable and trustworthy carpet business, Mel Losick was a Virginia Beach Paramedic and part-time teacher at Tidewater Community College. Mel’s life was spent caring for and helping others.

Arlene Losick met her husband Mel while working as a bookkeeper at a carpet company.  Together, they moved to Virginia and began Armelcarpet.

Arlene quickly learned binding, serging, and custom rug fabrication. As she became more experienced, she assumed the role of the head administrator and led Armelcarpet to become the successful enterprise it is today.

Mizzy is our most dedicated employee, putting in nearly as many hours as her human counterparts. As those who have met her know, she enjoys mingling with customers and is especially fond of children.
